Sal Lupoli

Sal Lupoli has been a social impact entrepreneur and restaurateur for more than 30 years.
 

Sal and his five brothers were raised in a 900 square foot apartment in East Boston, where his parents slept on the couch so the brothers could share two bedrooms.  He is a firm believer that “you are where you come from”.  His grandfather came here from Italy with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a dream of importing and selling olive oil. To do that, he needed capital, so he opened a small pizzeria on Revere Beach in 1940, and was able to start his olive oil business the next year. Sal's father also went on to own a business and their entrepreneurial spirit is what cemented Sal's desire to be in business for himself.

“I think that a humble beginning sometimes shapes the person that you become,” says Lupoli.

After cutting his teeth in the North End while attending Northeastern on a football scholarship, Sal opened his first pizza store in Salem, NH in 1990.

 

Today, Sal's accomplishments include 120 Sal's pizza locations, 34 Park, BOSA Coastal Italian, an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility, packaged pizza in grocery stores from Florida to Indiana, wholesale pizza in 500 schools, a fleet of food trucks and a stunning football field overlooking the Merrimack river, to host sporting events and private functions.

Named the 4th Largest Commercial Developer in MA by the Boston Business Journal, Sal has 6 million square feet of investments in his real estate portfolio, with $1,5B in development projects currently underway. 

 

With a focus on giving back,  Sal has had a monumental impact on the Merrimack Valley region and Massachusetts Gateway communities. Lupoli Companies was named Top Charitable Contributor by the Boston Business Journal for 2020, an exceptional accomplishment during a pandemic, emphasizing his continued desire to give back to our local communities .
